# Monthly Management Pack — Template

Fill each section. If a section has nothing worth saying this month, write
"No material change" rather than deleting it — consistency month to month is
what makes the pack readable.

## 1. Executive summary

Three sentences. No more.

- Sentence 1 — what happened: the headline result for the period.
- Sentence 2 — why: the single largest driver of the difference.
- Sentence 3 — what it means: the implication or the decision required.

## 2. Results at a glance

| Metric | Current | Prior | Variance | Variance % |
|---------------------|---------|-------|----------|------------|
| Revenue | | | | |
| Gross profit | | | | |
| Gross margin % | | | | |
| Operating expenses | | | | |
| Net income | | | | |
| Closing cash | | | | |

## 3. Variance analysis

Only lines above your materiality threshold. For each one, state the driver
category (volume, price, timing, one-off, or correction) — not just the number.

| Category | Variance | Driver | Explanation |
|----------|----------|--------|-------------|
| | | | |
| | | | |
| | | | |

## 4. Cash position and outlook

- Closing cash this period: ____________
- Net movement in the period: ____________
- 13-week outlook — expected low point: ____________ in week ____
- Key assumptions behind the outlook:
  - ____________________________________________________________________
  - ____________________________________________________________________

## 5. Balance sheet notes

Only what changed materially, or what a reader would question.

- Receivables: ______________________________________________________
- Payables: _________________________________________________________
- Other: ____________________________________________________________

## 6. Decisions and actions

Every row needs an owner and a date. A pack without owners is a report, not a
management tool.

| # | Recommendation | Why now | Owner | Due date | Next step |
|---|----------------|---------|-------|----------|-----------|
| 1 | | | | | |
| 2 | | | | | |
| 3 | | | | | |

## 7. Follow-up on last period

| Action from last period | Owner | Status | Note |
|-------------------------|-------|--------|------|
| | | | |

## Notes on using this template

- Keep the executive summary to three sentences. Length is not credibility.
- Explain drivers, not movements. "Payroll rose" is a number; "payroll rose
because two contractors converted to permanent mid-month" is an explanation.
- Cap the decisions at three. A pack with ten actions produces none.
- Carry section 7 forward every month. It is the section that turns a monthly
  report into an accountability loop.
